It’s been a while since I’ve shared an update on Ekklesia.
There’s been plenty happening behind the scenes, but there’s one idea I’ve been sitting with for a while that I wanted to put out there.
Opening up two ways to financially support work through Ekklesia.
One would be a personal fund, but it’s the second that I find particularly interesting: a community fund.
The idea is that businesses and organisations on Ekklesia would be able to give towards a shared fund, with the amount raised completely visible to the community.
From there, the community can be involved in discussing where those funds should go. The main purpose would be supporting missions, ministries and other work that could genuinely benefit from the financial support.
Transparency would be at the centre of it. How much has been raised, where the money goes and what it’s supporting should all be visible.
And to be transparent about Ekklesia itself — we’re not yet at the level of renown where I’d expect people to immediately trust their money or business giving to the platform. Especially with the community still being as small as it is.
But everything has to start somewhere.
I don’t want the current size of Ekklesia, or where it is today, to stop me from exploring what it will become and the possibilities and blessings something like this will offer to others.
It’s still an idea I’m thinking and praying through. There are questions around how it should work, how decisions are made and how the transparency around it should be handled.
But I think it’s an idea worth exploring.
